Hosted by the Magic & Mystery School Faculty, the Magic and Meaning Conference is an annual gathering of magicians, scholars, public speakers, professionals from many areas, and performers of diverse arts. It is for anyone who loves magic, storytelling, the philosophy of magic, and who wants to think about magic in new ways.

Attendance is strictly limited to 80 people so we can create a friendly, interactive community of learning and performing.

Hotel/Conference Center:

Once again, we will be at the Sunset Station Casino in Henderson, NV. We have arranged a block of discount rooms at the hotel, if you book before Oct. 1. Our event is on their calendar as Conference 30, Coded SICE30. Here are their instructions for booking rooms:

October 21 – 24, 2020

Sunset Station Hotel & Casino is pleased to offer the following rates for the Conference 29 program.  These rooms and rates are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Guest room rates quoted are per room, per night.  A discounted Hotel Service’s Fee of $16.99 will be added per room, per night. The above room rates and Hotel Service Fee are subject to Clark County room tax, currently at fourteen percent (14%) and is subject to change without notice. 

The Hotel will take reservations for the group until 11:59 PM on September 21, 2020, unless the guest room block sells-out before this date.  After this date the hotel may take reservations based on availability and at the prevailing Hotel rate.



Individuals are to call the Reservations Department at (888) 786-7389, and identify themselves as attendees of the Conference 29 group with the above-noted group code in order to receive the group rate.  A deposit equal to the first night’s room and tax charge will be taken at the time the reservation is made.   Individuals may cancel their reservation more than seventy-two (72) hour prior to arrival without penalty.  Cancellations less than seventy-two (72) hours prior to arrival will result in the first night’s room and tax penalty.  A $100.00 security deposit is required either by credit card or cash upon check-in for incidental charges.

At the heart of the Conference are a number of 20-minute presentations from conference attendees that we call the “PEP Talks” of magic (“Performance—Entertainment—Philosophy”). The Conference also features “Ensemble Shows” during which attendees are able to perform magic for the entire group.

The 2019 Magic and Meaning Conference will be held again at Sunset Station. Information about reserving your hotel room at the Sunset Station will be forthcoming.

9:30-12:15: Conference events and programming

12:15-1:30: Lunch break

1:30-5:00: Conference events and programming

5:00-7:00: Dinner break

7:00-??: Optional evening activities, to be announced

9:00-12:00: Conference events and programming

1:15-4:30: Conference events and programming
