The Magic & Meaning Conference Will Be Online Again in 2023! Join Us as We Celebrate SEVENTEEN Years of this Grand Event!

All events will be recorded, so you can watch anytime you wish.

Our past Online Magic and Meaning Conferences have met with huge success, drawing well over one hundred participants from around the world--people who would not otherwise have been able to attend. Further, our online community has grown by leaps and bounds since the beginning of 2020. Since the Magic and Meaning Conference is our School's "homecoming event," and since our presence has become so global, the 2023 Magic and Meaning Conference will be online.

As has always been the case, the Conference will feature 15 of our remarkable P-E-P Talks by attendees. It will also feature Ensemble Shows, break-out room discussions, teaching magic effects, and discussing ideas "beyond tricks" that are essential to the art of magic. To submit a proposal for your PEP Talk for the 2023 Online Magic and Meaning Conference, please carefully read this CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS.

Hosted by the Magic & Mystery School Faculty, the Magic and Meaning Conference is an annual gathering of magicians, scholars, public speakers, professionals from many areas, and performers of diverse arts. It is for anyone who loves magic, storytelling, the philosophy of magic, and who wants to think about magic in new ways.

Magic & Meaning 2023 Guest of Honor - Peter Samelson

After his appearance on Penn & Teller's Fool Us, Penn called Peter "one of the finest magicians alive today."
Peter Samelson insists that he doesn't do magic; he only helps people to see it. He is an illusionist/entertainer/philosopher, blending simplicity and sophistication as he provokes thought and inspires wonder.

A recent recipient of a Merlin Award for Lifetime Achievement, and christened "the soft-spoken conceptualist of sorcery" by the New York Times, Peter has distinguished himself not only as a magician, but as an artist. He has performed atop the Great Wall of China, for Mexican workers and Grand Prix drivers, Princess Stephanie of Monaco, the jet-set of Paris and the fishermen mending their nets on the beaches of Cartagena.

Peter also designs for TV, film and theater. He created magic for Sam Mendes productions at BAM and the Old Vic (London) and recently for two Broadway shows, Leap of Faith and Harvey. He has also created and starred in three critically acclaimed Off-Broadway shows; The Magician, PaperWork, and Radnevsky's Real Magic.
