Many magicians want to share their magic and their love of the art by writing about it. Yet for many, this feels daunting. How do we actually do it? How do we get started? And if we were to write something, who would publish it? Who would read it? Who would pay to read it? Sometimes the whole thing seems impossible.

I know these inner questions from my early years in magic. Over time, I learned how to successfully write for magicians, get in print, and build a global community of readers. In this online course, which will be taught in two long sessions, I will share essential things I’ve learned on both sides of the process.

Class 1: Writing for Magicians

The first goal of the course is to demystify the craft of writing. Many people have mistaken ideas about writing because of poor or punitive education about it. Others have negative voices in their heads that get in the way, such as, “Oh, I can’t write.” Still others get stuck because they don’t know the best resources for learning how to do it. By the end of the first class, both aspiring and experienced writers should feel empowered to dig in and know the best books to guide them.

Class 2: Publishing Your Work

The second goal of the course is to “crack the code” on how to get published in the world of magic. Based on decades of experience as an author, editor, and publisher, I will help you understand the options and isolate next steps toward your goal. I will also share a set of practical skills and strategies to help you succeed. If you want to see your writing in print, it can and will happen; in fact, it has never been easier.
